Letters of Support

I use the WPATH Standards of Care 8 Ed. as flexible clinical guidelines to make sure you meet your surgeon’s and insurance company’s criteria for surgery, which includes making sure you understand the specific procedure you are interested in, as well as a diagnostic assessment. My personal beliefs that being trans is not a mental illness, a diagnosis of gender dysphoria is a requirement for surgery. I aim to make this experience as affirming and trauma informed as possible, with the goal of supporting your transition.

We’ll start with a 15 min phone consultation to talk about your goals and to determine if I can provide you what you’re looking for. If we do schedule, we’ll meet several times (usually between 1-3 meetings) so I can gather enough information to provide a diagnosis and evaluate your preparedness for surgery.(Unless your insurance carrier has certain criteria about sessions, please contact them to find out this information.) I understand the importance of collaboration and community, and often consult with other folks (primary care, HRT providers, surgeons, support people for aftercare and surgical recovery, etc.) in order to make sure everyone on your team is on the same page and can best support you before surgery and as you recover. Through this process it is common that I often help connect clients with other trans community resources to build support networks.

Those that may be finding it difficult to cope with personal struggles, major transitions in life, anxiety and or depression, coming out, or family members that might be having difficulty with accepting their child or partner's transition, will find safety with me as well as knowledge and personal experience.

You can read more about my credentials, fee, and specialties on my Psychology Today profile. If you want to get acquainted and have your questions answered, I offer a free initial phone consultation. I’ll help you assess how we might work together to solve whatever is impacting you. Just call me today at (585) 957-0447.
